It is hurible for state like Kwara to be paying for the looting of shops and malls resulted from the uncordinated Endsars colocasia protests betid a couple of months ago.
The state government some days ago concluded the payment to forty-nine businesses who are the victims of the looting procedure to the tune of one hundred and eighty million, seven hundred and seventy-five thousand naira (#180,775,000.00).
The governor of the state, Mr Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, have no option than to pay the money not only to keep the victims in business but also to keep them in the state. Moreover this businesses are among the tax payers of the state whom the governor will not want to loose at this critical economic period.
We will recall that some shops and malls which include Shoprite Ilorin were vandalized and looted during the endsars protests.
This prodigious amount is in addition to the public properties and installations that were also vandalized during the unsanctified uproar of the endsars hoodlums. It is sad that Kwara state which is not among the rich state in Nigeria is paying for the damages done by these bandits with the money of the innocent tax payers in the state, whereas, the perpetrators are tax wavers. The public might not know the fact that they were the one paying for the evil acts as they were not asked to bring the money directly from their pulse for the payment, but directly or indirectly the effect will sure bounce back on the public as the money used in that direction would have been used on some other beneficial projects in the state.
This is surely one of the punishments for a society that fail to train its youths. Perhapes, learned parents who realized this reality will discipline their children not to take part in such unsanctified protests in the future, and our society shall as a result be peaceful without any form of fair.
